Data Recovery Services
A drive that clicks, a RAID that will not rebuild, a folder that was there yesterday: we recover data for home users and small businesses, and we tell you what is recoverable before you pay for the recovery.
What we recover data from
- Laptop, desktop and external hard drives
- SSDs, NVMe drives, USB sticks and memory cards
- RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 arrays
- NAS units, including Synology, QNAP and Drobo
- Small business servers
- Apple Macs and Windows PCs that will not start
What causes data loss
Broadly there are two kinds of failure. A logical failure means the drive works but the data is not reachable: deleted files, a formatted partition, a corrupted file system, malware. A physical failure means the drive itself is damaged: worn or crashed heads, a failed motor, burned electronics, or a drop, a spill or a fire. The two need different work, which is why every job starts with an evaluation.
The tools we use
We work with the PC-3000 system from ACE Lab, the equipment professional labs use to read drives that a computer can no longer see. Work is carried out in an ESD-safe environment, and we never write to the failing drive.
What to do right now
- Switch the device off. A failing drive gets worse each time it is powered up.
- Do not run repair or recovery software on a drive that clicks, beeps or disappears.
- Do not rebuild or re-initialize a RAID or NAS.
- Do not open the drive. Dust on the platters can end any chance of recovery.
- Call (213) 986-4855. We arrange a pickup, or you can mail the drive.
What it costs
Basic recovery is $125. Advanced recovery from a single hard drive is $1,200. RAID, NAS and server recoveries depend on the number of drives and the fault, so we quote those after the evaluation. See all prices, and how the process works.

Questions
Can you guarantee you will get my data back?
No one honestly can. Most drives we see are recoverable, but a drive with badly damaged platters may not be. After the evaluation we tell you what we expect to recover, before you commit to the cost.
How long does data recovery take?
A logical recovery is often finished in a few days. Physical faults, RAID arrays and NAS units take longer. We give you a time estimate with the quote.
How do I get the drive to you?
We pick it up in the Los Angeles area, or you can mail it in from anywhere in the US. We have no storefront, so there is no drop-off.
How do I get my data back?
On a new external drive, or on one you supply. We check the recovered files open before we return them.
Is my data kept private?
Yes. Your files are only handled to confirm the recovery worked, and our copy is deleted once you have confirmed you have everything.
How do I stop this happening again?
With a backup that runs automatically and is checked. See backup and disaster recovery.
Book a visit or a pickup
Call us or book online and tell us the make, the model and what is going wrong. For IT support a technician comes to your home or office. For a repair we pick the computer up from your door, fix it at our own workshop in Burbank and bring it back. We have no storefront, so there is nowhere to drop a machine off. Outside our area, you can mail it to us.
